Resumen
Las comunidades indígenas enfrentan barreras complejas en la gestión de residuos sólidos debido a la insuficiencia de infraestructura y a la tensión entre los saberes ancestrales y los residuos modernos. Esta revisión sistemática, realizada de conformidad con el protocolo PRISMA, identifica prácticas de manejo y tecnologías aplicadas a la gestión de residuos sólidos en territorios indígenas. Los hallazgos revelan una paradoja: aunque las comunidades poseen una base cultural centrada en la prevención y la circularidad, enfrentan dificultades en el manejo de residuos industrializados, lo que frecuentemente resulta en prácticas como la quema a cielo abierto. El análisis indica que la eficacia de las soluciones depende de la activación de tecnologías ambientales y sociales, tales como la educación ambiental intergeneracional y la participación comunitaria, que actúan como prerrequisitos para el éxito de la implementación de infraestructuras físicas. Se concluye que la sostenibilidad depende de la transición de modelos verticales a enfoques de cogestión, reconociendo el Conocimiento Tradicional Indígena (CTI) como una matriz activa de innovación y coproducción socioambiental.
